Nettle Meadow wins three awards
THURMAN — Nettle Meadow Farm and Cheese Co. has received three awards at the 2017 U.S. Cheese Championships.
The Thurman business competed in the mixed milk bloomy rind category at the event. It received a first-place finish for its Briar Summit cheese, according to the company’s website.
Sappy Ewe and Three Sisters finished second and fourth, respectively, in that category.
Nettle Meadow received a fourth-place award for its Habanero Peach Fromage Frais in the fresh milk category.
These awards come on the heels of Nettle Meadows’ two gold medals at the World Cheese Championship last year in which Kunik won gold in the mixed milk bloomy rinds and Apple Cider Fromage Frais won in the spreadable cheeses category.
In addition, Apple Cider Fromage Frais won second place at the American Cheese Society competition and Kunik and Peppered Eve won gold medals at the New York State Fair.
