Schecter hired at Glens Falls bank
GLENS FALLS -- Nathan Schecter has been named assistant vice president and credit department manager at Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co.
Schecter comes to the bank with extensive experience in the financial industry as a chief financial officer, appraiser and commercial financing consultant. He is a native of Clifton Park and a graduate of Shenendehowa High School.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the State University of New York at Albany.
Schecter lives in Clifton Park with his wife, Maria, and their children.
Moore promoted at local bank
GLENS FALLS -- Gregory Moore has been named vice president/branch services division manager at Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co.
Moore will also have administrative responsibilities for the bank's facilities department.
Moore joined Arrow in 2005 as vice president and branch manager of Saratoga National Bank's main office with more than 20 years of experience in retail banking and branch management.
He is a native of Porter Corners and a graduate of Voorheesville High School in Voorheesville. He attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.
Moore is a past member of the United Way, Allocations Committee.
Moore resides in Porter Corners.
Maurices names store manager
QUEENSBURY -- Clothing store Maurices has named Kendra Stone as store manager at the Aviation Mall location. Stone is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the store, including sales performance, visual presentation and personnel recruitment and training.
DeMarco elected to national board
GLENS FALLS -- David S. DeMarco, executive vice president of Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company, was elected to serve on the American Bankers Insurance Association's board of directors at the association's annual conference in Washington, D.C.
DeMarco is executive vice president, branch services, corporate development, marketing and financial services group head for Glens Falls National. He is also senior vice president of its holding company, Arrow Financial Corporation, and chairman of the board of the bank's insurance subsidiaries; Capital Financial Group, Inc., Loomis & LaPann, Inc., Upstate Agency, LLC and McPhillips Insurance Agency.
DeMarco is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A. in finance and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He serves on the boards of directors for Glens Falls Hospital Foundation, Glens Falls Civic Center Foundation, Adirondack Chapter of the American Cancer Society and the Tri-County United Way. DeMarco is president of the board of the Queensbury Dollars for Scholars, a member of the board of directors of New York Bankers Association and chairman of the Retail Banking Division
He is also a member of the NYSPHSAA Boys Basketball Marketing Committee and was named the New York Business Development Corporation's Banker of the Year in 1998.
Vaughn joins firm as associate broker
GLENS FALLS -- Duane Vaughn recently joined DeMarsh Real Estate as an associate broker.
Vaughn became a licensed real estate salesperson in 2006 and received his associate broker's license in 2007.
He is executive director of the WAIT House shelter for homeless youth and is active in many civic organizations and committees. He also served as councilman for the town of Fort Ann the past four years.
Elson wins award as top veterinarian
LAKE GEORGE -- Dr. Christopher Elson was recently presented with the "Veterinarian of the Year" award at the annual New York State Wildlife Rehabilitation Council (NYSWRC) conference at the Fort William Henry Resort.
The award, initiated in 1997, recognizes and honors veterinarians who have demonstrated outstanding qualities and skills that have contributed to the treatment and care of the sick and injured wildlife.
Elson is a 1995 graduate of the Atlantic Veterinary College, and in 2007, sold his practice and came to work at The Burnt Hills Veterinary Clinic. In addition to acupuncture, he has advanced training in food therapy, supplements and canine massage, is certified in Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation and completed the Canine Rehabilitation Program at the University of Tennessee.
NYSWRC Inc. is a not for profit membership organization dedicated to the education of wildlife rehabilitators, improvement of the field of wildlife rehabilitation, and the protection and preservation of the environment.
Mollie's Mason Jar changes ownership
HADLEY -- Mollie and Jeff Milkiewicz of Mollie's Mason Jar have transferred ownership of the business to their daughter, Rachel Reed, and her husband, Jacob Reed.
The couple are accepting catering orders and banquet reservations. A re-opening date had not been announced.
The cuisine will consist of the classic Mollie's menu for breakfast and lunch. Specials and updates will be displayed on the new website, www.MolliesMasonJar.com.
"I have deeply respected how my parents ran the restaurant and took an interest in their customers," Reed said. "I look forward to keeping with their same traditions and style of management."
