I've had a great week with mail arriving at my door from friends holding books. There's just nothing like book gifts.
My favorites are books that friends enjoyed and wanted to share. A friend picked up The Mistress of Spices at her library sale for me because she really liked the book. I had never heard of it but am excited just because she enjoyed it enough to send it.
Another friend sent me I'll Tell You in Person because one of the themes is long-distance friendship, which she and I can relate to.
I haven't read the summaries on either of these because I like diving in blind with no expectations when something has been highly recommended. Serious book nerds do not take book recommendations lightly; we put a lot of thought into the kind of reader a person is before throwing out a random title.
That's why I love book gifts. They can say a lot about your relationship with a person and what they want to share with you.
