That didn't take long.
According to TSN, the Flyers waived Tom Sestito on Tuesday with the intention of sending him to the Phantoms. If no one claims him, he'll begin the season as a Phantom. The Flyers told Dave Isaac they planned on doing this before Monday's incident. Not sure I buy that, but that's their story.
I'm uncertain if Sestito's pending suspension carries over to the AHL. As soon as I get an answer, or if I read one somewhere else, I'll post that news here.
In other news out of practice Tuesday:
-- Jason Bacashihua will make his Phantoms debut in goal Wednesday night against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in Saratoga. He'll start and play the whole game. Johan Backlund will back him up.
-- The Phantoms won't dress their top line of Denis Hamel, Ben Holmstrom and Mike Testwuide for Wednesday's game.
-- The Phantoms have a new trainer this season. Greg Lowden replaces George Sporing. More on that in the future.
Lines (it's very early, so take these with a big grain of salt and consider them in no particular order after the top):
Hamel/Holmstrom/Testwuide; Brown/Kalinski/Akeson; Wellwood/Johnson/Legein; Klotz/Roe/Harper; --/Bohmbach/Boyd (missed the left winger). There was also another line involving Luke Pither I didn't quite pick up.
Defensive pairs: Kessel/Bourdon; Jancevski/Hostetter; Lauridsen/Eddy; Marshall/Merth; Crowder/Tarusak.
