The Flyers officially assigned Michael Leighton to the Phantoms on Sunday. He practiced with the Flyers in the morning and was not in Wilkes-Barre with the Phantoms.

The Phantoms have the day off Monday. Training camp continues on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Lake George Forum. The Civic Center is unavailable all week because of concerts and the ice is yet to be put down at Fire Road Rink.

No idea how the logjam at goalie breaks up, but it has to be done soon. Jason Bacashihua and Johan Backlund remain with the Phantoms.

A few notes on the preseason finale:

-- Oliver Lauridsen's goal with 1:11 remaining prevented a shutout. It's only exhibition and the Phantoms didn't play a game with their whole lineup intact, but given this team's offensive history, it has to be at least mildly concerning that they scored just two even-strength goals in three games.

-- The Penguins scored two of their three goals on 5-on-3 power plays. Jason Bacashihua made 31 saves.

-- -- Notable scratches: Dan Jancevski, Denis Hamel, Stefan Legein, Garrett Klotz, Jon Kalinski. Interesting that Kalinski didn't play in the preseason. I'll have to check and see if he's banged up.

-- Mike Testwuide, Ben Holmstrom and Eric Wellwood joined the Phantoms in Wilkes-Barre after playing with the Flyers last night in Newark. Holmstrom and Testwuide made their preseason debuts with the Phantoms.

Tim any guesses as to who's battling for spots that may end up being in the mix to start out in Trenton?

The Phantoms cut their seven tryout players on Monday (see new blog post) so if any of those players were on contract to Trenton, I'd say possibly by Tuesday.

As for guys in real contention for roster spots, might not be until the end of the week.

Tim any idea when we might see some bodies down here in Trenton?
