I'm happy to announce we've hired a new writer to cover the Phantoms.

Diana Nearhos will join our staff sometime around Oct. 1 and begin covering the team immediately. We're looking forward to her arrival.

Diana is a Boston College graduate who has written for several newspapers. She's been a freelance reporter for The Boston Globe, Newsday and The Cape Cod Times during the past two years. She also had an internship at The Arizona Republic and has contributed to several websites.

She's covered quite a bit of hockey during that time -- most of it at the college level, but she has also written stories on the Boston Bruins and the Phoenix Coyotes.

Tim is a tough act to follow, but I think you'll enjoy reading Diana.

Good Luck to the new hockey writer. She has plenty of good news to report. The best is that the 273 million dollar arena being built in the most dangerous section of Allentown will not be ready till 2014. The team will not make it in Allentown.
