Third period: Crunch 3, Phantoms 0

The big news of the third period was Zac Rinaldo getting into his first fight of the season. He hit two guys (and was called for charging) and then Angelidis turned around and grabbed Cullen Eddy, the nearest Phantom. Rinaldo circled back and dropped the gloves with Aulie, who was piling on Eddy.

Radko Gudas scored the only goal of the period. He walked in and beat Munroe with a wrist shot with 6:16 to play.

Tonight was the first time the Phantoms have been shutout since the second game of the season, a 4-0 loss at Springfield. The fans who brought Teddy Bears had to throw them on the ice at the first promotional timeout of the third period because there was a never a goal to celebrate.

Second period: Crunch 2, Phantoms 0

Alex Killorn put the Crunch on the board first, 4:13 into the second period. He beat Munroe stick-side for his seventh goal of the season, third against the Phantoms.

Richard Panik expanded the lead to two about five minutes later with a shorthanded goal. As he raced Manning down the ice, Panik fired a shot past Munroe to give Syracuse a 2-0 lead.

Only about a minute after that, Jason Akeson delivered a big hit to Matt Taormina at the blue line. Pierre-Cedric Labrie jumped to Taormina's defense, hitting Akeson. Tye McGinn stepped in and dropped the gloves with Labrie, while Akeson took down Taormina. Labrie was given a roughing penalty and they all got fighting majors.

Before they all even got out of the box, another scrum broke out behind Munroe. Cory Conacher went to the ice trying to draw a high-sticking call on Matt Konan. The only thing he drew was teammate Mike Angelidis into a scrum with Konan. Everyone got involved in the scrum and when it was all over Angelidis had a double-minor for roughing, and Konan and Shane Harper each had two minutes for roughing.

First period: Phantoms 0, Crunch 0

The good news for the Phantoms is that they did not commit three penalties in the first period. The bad news is that they did commit two and they did not score on any of their three power plays.

The Crunch did a good job of clearing the puck out on power plays and not letting the Phantoms get a sustained attack going.

The period was a low-shooting one on both sides of the ice. The Phantoms outshot the Crunch 8-6.

The Phantoms and Crunch meet in a re-match of Saturday's Adirondack shootout victory. This is the teams' second of three meetings in as many weeks.
