Continuing the countdown of the top 10 city stories of the year
It was a summer of detours and headaches for city drivers with a nearly $4 million project to replace antiquated sewer infrastructure along Ridge Street.
Like many older cities, Glens Falls has combined sewer and stormwater pipes. During heavy rains, the system overflows and causes the sewage to flow into the river.
The work ran behind schedule as crews from Kubricky Construction encountered abandoned pipes and a maze of conduits that were not accurately marked on plans.
Work wrapped up in late November.
