NEWFLASH: No one yelled at Tuesday’s Moreau Town Board meeting.

I spoke with Supervisor Gardner Congdon today about a vote at last night’s meeting, and he asked me to write a different story about last night.

“Hey, didn’t you see how nice I was?” he said. “How come when I’m not nice, it’s news, but when I am nice, silence?”

I explained that unusual activity is news. The truck on fire is news – the hundreds of trucks that get to their destination without bursting into flames are not news.

But he insisted, so I said I’d put it in my blog.

Here it is, folks: the Town Board met Tuesday and spent two hours in a civil conversation without significant digressions. They did not shout at each other, or call each other names, or propose to go outside for a fist fight. There were no curse words. No one stood up to argue or walked out.

I am terribly afraid that Congdon might be right when he says that behavior is new, or in other words, news.
