People keep asking me if the big Essity tax settlement will lead South Glens Falls villagers to merge with the town of Moreau.
First of all, a merger wasn’t popular before the settlement.
But villagers now feel like the town of Moreau has sold out the village by agreeing to a deal that would hurt their tax base. They feel the Town Board didn’t care about them enough to fight for a better deal.
So relations between the two municipalities are now even worse than before. And that’s really saying something.
That means the popularity of a merger is probably at an all-time low.
