The Hudson Falls offense and Glens Falls defense collide during the second quarter of Saturday's Jug Game at Hudson Falls High School.

Family matters have kept me from catching up with my blog this week, but here goes with the Week 8 installment of my one-man poll of myself, where I ask myself how the Section II teams stack up in each class.

Class AA

1. Troy (7-0); 2. Shaker (6-1); 3. Saratoga Springs (7-0); 4. Shenendehowa (6-1); 5. Colonie (5-2). Honorable mention: Guilderland (4-3), Bethlehem (4-3).

Class A

1. Burnt Hills (7-0); 2. Averill Park (6-1); 3. Queensbury (4-3); 4. South Glens Falls (4-3); 5. Amsterdam (3-4). Honorable mention: none.

Class B

1. Glens Falls (7-0); 2. Schuylerville (6-1); 3. Cobleskill (6-1); 4. Schalmont (4-3); 5. Hudson Falls (4-3). Honorable mention: Hudson (4-3), Ravena (3-4).

Class C

1. Holy Trinity (6-1); 2. Stillwater (6-1); 3. Mechanicville (6-1); 4. Watervliet (6-1); 5. Chatham (5-2). Honorable mention: Hoosick Falls (4-3); Voorheesville (5-2).

Class D

1. Greenwich (7-0); 2. Cambridge (6-1); 3. Warrensburg (6-1); 4. Canajoharie (6-1); 5. Whitehall (4-3). Honorable mention: none.

And a quick rundown of the New York State Sportswriters Association football poll -- for the full rankings, go to Class AA and A here, or Classes B, C and D here.

-- Glens Falls remains the No. 1 team in the state in Class B, as the Indians enter the playoffs with a 20-game winning streak as the defending state champs. Schuylerville is ranked eighth; the other Section II teams are honorable mention, including 6-1 Cobleskill.

-- Greenwich is the No. 2 team in Class D after former No. 1 Sidney's (Section IV) loss to Class C No. 1 Newark Valley last week. Clyde-Savannah (Section V) moved up to No. 1. Cambridge is still No. 5 behind No. 3 Alexander (Section V) and No. 4 Sidney. Ticonderoga (7-0) is ranked seventh and archrival Moriah (6-1) is No. 11. Warrensburg is ranked 17th -- still underranked in my opinion. Canajoharie is an honorable mention this week.

-- In Class C, Holy Trinity, Stillwater and Mechanicville are ranked 10th, 11th and 13th, respectively. All of the other one- and two-loss Section II teams are honorable mentions.

-- Burnt Hills is ranked fourth in Class A, while Averill Park moved up to 15th. Queensbury is an honorable mention.

-- In Class AA, Troy remains No. 1 in the state, Saratoga moved up to No. 20 and Shaker dropped back to 25th. Shenendehowa and Colonie are honorable mentions.
