Earlier this week, Amsterdam High School announced its Jan. 30 game against Glens Falls was pre-sale only.
Tickets could be purchased at either school, and there were tweets saying students had the ability to buy tickets at lunch.
Though purchasing power was limited to a five ticket maximum.
All tickets for the boys basketball game v. Amsterdam on Tues, 1/30 must be purchased IN ADVANCE. No tickets at the door, no re-entry for fans on game night, Section 2 lifetime/AD passes accepted. GF tix sold during lunch periods, $1/students + $3/adults. Max 4 tix per family.— GlensFalls Athletics (@GFSDathletics) January 25, 2018
The reason for the pre-sale madness? Joseph Girard III is on pace to break the state's all-time scoring record Tuesday night.
And if you were hoping to witness history, I hope you already got your tickets, because as of yesterday tickets are sold out.
Tickets for the Tuesday, Jan. 30 varsity basketball game against Glens Falls are now sold out. Entry will not be permitted without a ticket and there will be no tickets sold at the door.— Amsterdam Schools (@AMSTGASD) January 25, 2018
That is right. The hype, intrigue, curiosity, or whatever you want to call it that follows Girard has caused a high school basketball game that is still five days away to sell out.
