The news last week that someone had stolen  an entire Salvation Army kettle outside Aviation Mall's food court entrance was shocking, and saddening.

The red kettle was taken when the person ringing the bell took a break. That is not unusual, because even the lowest of the low usually have the scruples to leave the venerable kettles alone.

Well that changed around here last week, and police efforts to figure out who did it have not led to any arrests.

No one has come forward to point the finger at any particularly suspect, which given the mall's lack of food court offerings these days, is not surprising.

And the surveillance camera coverage in that area is sparse, from what I am told. (This issue has come up in other criminal cases outside the mall, I am told.)

If you were around the mall the night of last Tuesday, Dec. 5, and saw anything unusual in that area, call the Warren County Sheriff's Office at 743-2500.
