hike to hut loop

This map shows the proposed route for a hike to huts loop running from North Creek to Indian Lake, with a raft trip back to North Creek.

The Adirondack Daily Enterprise published an interesting article Monday about the continuing development of "hamlet-to-huts" hiking opportunities, and the first four-day trip may kick off as soon as this spring.

This loop is one of a number under development and would include three days of hiking from North Creek to Indian Lake, and a whitewater rafting trip back to North Creek the fourth day.

I've hiked some of these trails through the Siamese Ponds Wilderness, and they offer awesome scenery with some challenging terrain. Looking at the map, it's a well thought-out loop, do-able for anyone with moderate and expert hiking ability.

The Daily Enterprise article can be found here, while a complete look at the different proposed routes can be found at www.adirondacktrailsandlodging.org/
