To be considered for publication, letters to the editor must be legible, brief and have the name of the letter writer and what town they live. We prefer to receive letters electronically. Avoid using all capital letters or all lowercase letters. There is a strict 300-word limit for all letters, including "Thank You" letters.
To avoid a monopoly by one letter writer, only two letters per 30 days per writer are permitted with certain exceptions. Letters regarding upcoming elections or referendums must arrive at The Post-Star no later than 10 days before the vote to be ensured publication. All fields must be filled in so the letter can be verified. Letters from outside our circulation area will be published when they refer to a specific local issue. Poetry, third-party and chain letters will not be published. All letters may be edited for style and space.
