To be considered for publication, letters to the editor must be legible and brief. Mailed letters must be signed. Avoid using all capital letters. Individual words or phrases also should not be written in all upper case to show emphasis. There is a 300-word limit. To avoid a monopoly by one letter writer, only one letter per 30 days per writer is accepted, with certain exceptions. Letters regarding upcoming elections or referendums must arrive at The Post-Star at least 10 days before the vote. All fields must be filled in so the letter can be verified. Poetry, third-party and chain letters will not be published. All letters are edited for style and space.
